Evapotranspiration is defined as the total amount of moisture evaporated and moisture transpired by the plant. It is a reflection of factors available to evaporate water and wind available to transport water vapor from the ground. As the summer progresses, the amount of water required by a plant increases and the irrigation run times must match this increased demand. The schedules of irrigation controllers require constant adjustment to match the changing weather conditions. Today there are a number of options available that provide on-site weather monitoring. Certain controllers can be upgraded to communicate with weather stations and make the adjustments automatically. No more watering the grass on a rainy day!
